Martin Bajer from TTC MARCONI Co-authors a Scientific Article about Converged Security
Smart Cities, an international open access peer-reviewed journal about the science and technology of smart cities published by MDPI, released an informative article entitled “How to Make Smart Cities Safer”. One of the authors of the article is Martin Bajer from TTC MARCONI.
Smart city refers to the concept of using digital, information and communication technologies for more efficient functionality. As cities become increasingly smart, the security of their critical infrastructure, such as power grids, needs to be ensured.
Converged security is the new approach to ensure greater protection for smart cities. This concept combines different types of security – cyber, physical and operational – into one system enabling faster response to possible threats.
This article introduces the Converged Security and Information Management System (CSIM) using these intelligent security systems. This system allows real-time monitoring of security status and prediction of potential threats, among other things.
A functional sample of CSIM has already been successfully tested in practice in Ostrava and Zlín. The results from the research confirmed its capability of assessing the physical, operational, and cyber security of selected smart city infrastructures and assisted in the identification of their most vulnerable aspects. This system will expand to other cities in the future.
